Privacy & Cookie Notice
Last updated:
The Katie Mae Foundation operates this website. This notice explains how information is used when you browse, contact us, apply for a toy drive, donate, leave a comment, or access donation history. For questions or privacy requests, please use our contact page.
Information you provide
- Contact and volunteer enquiries: your name, preferred contact method, email address or phone number, enquiry topic, and message, as provided in the form.
- Toy-drive applications: organization name, contact person's name and position, organization address, phone number, and email address.
- Donations: your name, email address, selected amount, currency, donation reference, dates, payment status, and transaction reference. A pending donation record is created before you leave for PayPal. Payment account or card details are entered on PayPal's website, rather than in our donation form.
- Comments: your name, email address, optional website address, comment, and the page or comment you respond to. Comments await moderation. If approved, your name, comment, date, and optional website link may appear publicly, including in the comments feed. Your email address is not included in that public display. Avoid including private information in a comment you want published.
- Donation-history access: the email address used to request access, request and access times, and security references used to verify access. Access emails and receipt links are private; please do not share them.
Related correspondence, administrative notes, and earlier enquiry and donation records may also be kept with these records.
How information is used
We use website information to respond to enquiries, coordinate volunteers and toy drives, administer donations, record payment outcomes, send related notifications and receipts, provide private donation history, moderate comments, and operate and protect the website. Submitted records and email-delivery status are stored so requests can be handled and uncertain submissions or notifications can be checked without creating duplicates.
Website and payment services
Cloudflare hosts the website and database, delivers website email, and provides security services. Information submitted through the site is processed by these services. Notification and receipt messages are also processed by the receiving email provider. People authorized to administer the Foundation's website and records may access information for the purposes described here. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Forms load Cloudflare Turnstile automatically to check for automated abuse before submission. This security service processes technical signals such as IP address, browser information, and the website being visited. Cloudflare also uses these signals to improve its bot detection. Details are in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Choosing to continue a donation opens PayPal's external checkout. PayPal processes payment information under its own policies and sends payment-status information back to this website. See the PayPal Privacy Statement for its data and cookie practices. Other external links, such as social-media links, take you to services with their own privacy practices.
Cookies and your browser
Cookies are small values stored by your browser. The website uses the following cookies for security, private access, and remembering that you have seen the cookie notice. It currently loads no optional analytics or advertising trackers. Dismissing the notice records an acknowledgment, not consent to advertising or analytics.
These cookies use secure connections. The security and history cookies are not readable by page scripts. The notice acknowledgment is readable by the notice script so it can remember your choice. Cloudflare's security services and PayPal's external checkout may have their own cookie behavior; the linked policies explain those services.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking security or history cookies may prevent form submission or donation-history access. Clearing the acknowledgment makes the notice appear again. Use the footer's “Cookie notice” control to reopen it.
Unsent form drafts remain in the open page's memory while you work or retry a submission. This website does not persistently autosave those drafts in browser storage. Navigating away or closing the page may lose them; your browser may separately remember or autofill information according to its settings.
Technical information and protection
Hosting and security services process request information such as IP addresses, browser details, and traffic information to serve the site and detect abuse. The application uses a protected, derived IP-based reference for submission rate limits. Operational records include request references, status and error categories, and notification-delivery states to diagnose failures. These records serve website operation and security rather than advertising.
Keeping records and making a request
We keep information as needed to handle enquiries, applications and donations, maintain related records, resolve issues, protect the website, and meet applicable obligations. The time needed varies by record and purpose. Cookie expiry or signing out does not delete saved enquiries, comments, or donation records; retained backups may also contain earlier records.
To ask about your information, or request access, correction, or deletion, please contact the Katie Mae Foundation. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing private records. Requests are handled subject to applicable law and obligations that may require certain records to be retained.
We may update this notice when website practices change. The date above identifies this version.
